Empowering Māori Identity in Education

As a primary school teacher, in 2017, I founded Te Roto Kura Ka Hikitia Rōpū, a student group dedicated to strengthening Māori identity. Seeing its impact reinforced my belief that education must centre culture and belonging. This passion led me to PhD research on how digital technology can support Māori identity in kura auraki. I’m grateful to be supervised by Dr. Tia Neha and to contribute to Te Kete Hingengaroa, a research project on education, identity, and well-being.

I would also like to acknowledge the support of Associate Professor Jenny Ritchie as one of my Phd supervisors.
